Questions

Before you start.

Still deciding? Ask us directly or see everything Smarterlift does.

Which states does Smarterlift cover?

Four states are live today: Texas (TDLR), New York (state licensing plus NYC DOB data), Florida (DBPR) and Minnesota (DLI), with 315,000+ elevators and lifts refreshed nightly from the official state registries. If you work in a state we do not cover yet, sign up anyway and ask for your state from the Building registry page; every request is read, and that is what decides where the registry goes next. You still get the whole platform from day one, and Lead search finds building leads by type anywhere in the US.

What's the difference between Building registry and Lead search?

They are two lead sources inside the same product. Building registry is state elevator compliance data pulled nightly from the state agencies: real elevators with their certificate dates, owners of record, contractors and inspectors, so anything overdue is an opportunity you can act on the same day. It covers TX, NY, FL and MN. Lead search finds buildings by type and place anywhere in the US, such as hotels in Los Angeles or hospitals in Phoenix, ranks them, and adds the ones you pick as prospects. In a covered state you use both; elsewhere Lead search is how you prospect, and everything else works the same.

How is this different from a generic CRM?

A generic CRM starts empty. In TX, NY, FL and MN your pipeline starts with the whole elevator market: 315,000+ elevators and lifts across about 163,000 buildings, with state certificate dates and AI fit scores. Outside those states, Lead search finds buildings anywhere in the US and the same AI scores and ranks them. Either way you are working a sorted queue, not typing in data.

How does the AI decide between cosmetic, mid and full modernization?

Cosmetic refresh ($5K to $25K per cab) is suggested for 8 to 15 year old equipment in buildings where appearance matters most, such as hotels, Class A offices and apartments. Mid modernization ($20K to $60K per unit) fits 15 to 25 year old equipment, aging fixtures or door operators, or code gaps. Full modernization ($50K to $150K per unit) is for equipment past 25 years, hydraulic drives past 30, or buildings with repeated expired certificates and frequent service calls. Each tier has a different buyer and a different conversation, the proposal leads with the right one, and the reasoning is shown on the prospect so you can check or override it.

Does the AI act on its own?

Only where an owner allows it. Ask Smarterlift plans the work, does it as you confirm, and runs the kinds you trust on its own, with every change logged and undoable for 30 days wherever it can be put back. An owner can let a kind of change run on its own, such as assigning jobs or emailing an invoice to the customer's contact on file, and it reports back, up to 50 such changes a company a day. An owner can also switch on a morning round, which each morning bills finished jobs, emails raised invoices, drafts orders for low stock and proposes the month close, and counts its own 50 changes a day. Some kinds always ask whatever is set, such as voiding an invoice, recording a payment, running billing, sending a proposal and changing who can sign in, and so does any plan built from words that came from outside the company. It never charges a card.

How long does setup take?

Most service companies send their first AI scored proposal within 48 hours. We import your customer list, set up your service area (the state registry in a covered state, Lead search anywhere else) and work through the first prospects with you.

What about my customers' data? Is it secure?

The database is encrypted at rest and every connection uses TLS. Each company's data is isolated at the API, sign in runs on Amazon Cognito with optional multi factor authentication, and the database sits in a private network with no public access. Our written security review is available to customers on request.

Do my customers need a separate login?

Yes. On every plan each customer gets their own portal on your subdomain showing only their data: their elevators, maintenance history, service tickets, documents and invoices. Service companies see fewer calls asking where things stand once customers can check for themselves.

Is there a mobile app for my technicians?

Yes, on iPhone, iPad and Android: Smarterlift for Technicians has checklists, job site photos, an on site customer signature and full unit history that keeps working in a machine room with no signal. On Android it is on Google Play. On iPhone and iPad it installs from the App Store through a download link your company sends, so it does not appear in App Store search. The app is included on every plan at no extra cost.

Can I see what a job actually cost me?

Yes. Labor is costed at each technician's own rate, with parts and other costs captured on the work order and measured against what you invoiced, so you see cost, revenue and margin per job. Work covered by a maintenance contract rolls up against that contract's recurring revenue instead of showing a loss on every callback, and a job you have not costed yet is counted separately rather than quietly averaged in.

How is pricing structured?

Three plans, sized to your company, each with all of Smarterlift and AI throughout. Crew is $499 a month for up to 5 technicians, 250 elevators and one location. Company is $999 a month for up to 15 technicians, 1,000 elevators, one location and the API. Regional is $1,699 a month for up to 35 technicians, unlimited elevators and up to 5 locations. Every plan has unlimited office users and the customer portal. Beyond your plan it is $69 a month per technician, $49 per 250 elevators and $59 per 25 owner portals, added to your next invoice and never a lockout. Annual billing is 15% off. A guided setup is charged once: $1,500, $2,500 or $3,500 by plan. Prices are in USD, and sales tax is added at checkout based on your business location.
