Elevator service company software, compared: Smarterlift beside LiftGrid, FIELDBOSS, Service Fusion and ServiceM8
Most software for elevator service companies helps you run the work you already have. Smarterlift starts one step earlier: it finds the work you do not have yet, from the state inspection registries, and then runs it. That difference decides which product fits, so this page puts the five side by side, prices included, and says plainly what Smarterlift does not do.
Read this first
- •If your problem is finding new maintenance contracts and modernization projects, Smarterlift is the only one of the five that does it. Nobody else reads the state registries.
- •If your problem is dispatch on a map, GPS on the vans or a general ledger, one of the other four does that better. Smarterlift has a work order queue, not a map, and exports to your accounting system rather than replacing it.
- •Every competitor figure below was read from that vendor’s own public pages on September 6, 2026. Prices change; check the vendor before you decide, and tell us if we have one wrong.

What Smarterlift does not do
- •No GPS tracking and no route optimisation. The dispatch board maps the day’s jobs and suggests who should take each one, but a technician’s position comes from their last completed job, not from their phone, and Smarterlift does not solve a driving route: it suggests a stop order and hands each leg to the maps app on the phone. If you need live vehicle tracking or a routing engine, Service Fusion’s GPS add-on or ServiceM8’s built-in tracking is the better fit.
- •No general ledger, payroll, tax filing or live QuickBooks sync. Smarterlift issues invoices, takes card payments through Stripe once you connect an account, and exports invoices and completed work as CSV for your accountant. There is no automatic QuickBooks connection yet, and the CSV is not a QuickBooks invoice import: Intuit’s own importer refuses invoices for any US company with sales tax switched on, which is most elevator companies. FIELDBOSS runs on Dynamics 365 and is the one to look at if you want operations and accounting in one system, at its implementation cost.
- •No iPhone app yet. The technician app is on Google Play now and the iPhone version is in review. Technicians on iPhone use the mobile browser today. ServiceM8 has iOS first; LiftGrid, like Smarterlift, is Android.
- •Registries in four states. Texas, Florida, New York, Minnesota are loaded and refreshed nightly. Elsewhere, Lead Search finds buildings nationwide and everything downstream works the same, but the expiring-certificate list is a registry feature and needs a registry.
- •No implementation team. There is a seven-day trial, an owner-only importer for your service history, and support by email. If you want a consultant on site for a month, that is what FIELDBOSS’s implementation fee buys.
Who should choose what
Choose LiftGrid if you want an inexpensive, elevator-specific system to run existing contracts, with an offline Android app and a white-label portal, and you generate your own leads. At $24 to $79 a month it is the cheapest elevator-specific option on this page. It caps users and elevators per tier, and its pricing page says payments are processed in Turkish lira.
Choose FIELDBOSS if you are large enough to fund a Dynamics 365 implementation from $50,000 and want operations, financials and compliance workflow in one enterprise system. It is the industry incumbent for that segment. A ten-person shop is not on its shortlist, and it is not on yours.
Choose Service Fusion or ServiceM8 if elevators are one trade among several, or dispatch on a map and QuickBooks sync matter more than anything elevator-specific. Both are flat-rate with unlimited users and both are cheaper than Smarterlift for operations alone. Neither knows what a certificate of operation is.
Choose Smarterlift if the constraint on your business is new contracts, not running the ones you have. The registry gives you every expiring certificate and every aging installation in your territory as a ranked list, the AI drafts the outreach and the proposal, and the contract, work orders, parts, job costing, invoicing and the customer portal follow in the same system. One won modernization project pays for years of the subscription, and that is the whole argument for the price.

Questions people ask
- Why does Smarterlift cost six times what LiftGrid does?
- Because it does a different job. LiftGrid helps you run the maintenance contracts you already hold, and at $24 to $79 a month it does that well. Smarterlift finds the contracts you do not hold yet: every expiring certificate and every aging installation in your territory, from the state registries, with the outreach and the proposal drafted. One won maintenance contract covers the year; one won modernization project covers several. If you generate your own leads and only need operations, LiftGrid is the cheaper answer and we would rather say so here than have you find out later.
- Is Smarterlift a replacement for FIELDBOSS?
- Not for the companies FIELDBOSS is built for. FIELDBOSS runs on Microsoft Dynamics 365 with an implementation from $50,000 and per-user licences, and it puts operations, financials and compliance workflow in one enterprise system. Smarterlift is for the single-state shop with a few technicians, flat-rate, self-serve, with a seven-day trial and no implementation. The two are rarely on the same shortlist.
- Can I keep Service Fusion or ServiceM8 for dispatch and use Smarterlift for leads?
- Yes. Outbound gives you the registry, the ranked building list, AI scoring, proposals and the CRM, and nothing stops you dispatching elsewhere. Most companies end up moving the work into Smarterlift anyway, because the won proposal becomes the contract, the contract generates the work orders and the work orders become the invoice without re-entering anything. Completed work and invoices export as CSV for your accountant either way.
- Does Smarterlift do accounting, GPS or route planning?
- No. It issues invoices, takes card payments through Stripe once you connect an account, and exports invoices and completed work as CSV for your accountant; it has no general ledger, no payroll and no live QuickBooks sync yet. Dispatch is a board with a map of the day, a column per technician and a suggested assignment for each job, but there is no GPS tracking and no routing engine: a technician’s position comes from their last completed job, and each leg is handed to the maps app on their phone. If live vehicle tracking or a routing engine is what decides your purchase, one of the other four products on this page is the better fit.
